What we doTemperature monitoring in wastewater is an important addition in support of other measurements.

Infiltration of groundwater or rainfall into sewage networks is a significant problem that adds to the cost of Wastewater treatment. Temperature Monitoring at strategic locations can help with the first step in eliminating infiltration: identifying the point of entry.

How we do itIf you fail to plan, you're planning to fail

It is often relatively simple to approximate the sewers affected by infiltration down to several lengths of pipes. But sewer repairs are expensive and so are the traditional techniques of pinpointing exactly where the problem lies to minimise those rehabilitation costs.

Strategic placement of telemetry Temperature loggers can help narrow down the point of infiltration to each single length, meaning remedial work can be focussed on the actual point of entry.

Infiltration adds to the cost of treatment and reduces the capacity of the netowork

General domestic sewage in the UK averages between approximately 10C & 25C depending on the season. Surface water has a temperature that is considerably lower, particularly in the colder months.

Measuring temperature at many points along the sewer makes it relatively easy to identify where the infiltration problems exist by a simple comparison of readings at successive sites, particularly if supplemented by strategic flow and/or rainfall measurement.

Temperature changes can be used to identify infiltration

Telemetry temperature monitors are a cost-effective way of identifying infiltration, particularly when compared to traditional flow monitors or CCTV surveys.

They are designed to be installed without confined space entry in the majority of cases, they have a long battery life and are virtually maintenance free.
