Working around the Bristol area, we are now recruiting for two people to join one of our existing wastewater sampling teams as a Field Operative – Water Sampler.

As a multi-disciplinary support services company, IETG operate within the water and waste water industries working for UK Water companies nationally.  We have a short term programme to collect wastewater samples from the sewer network around Bristol until June 2022.

Operating as a two-person team, your typical day will involve visiting around 15 sites per day to take wastewater samples from the sewer network. This will include lifting and carrying equipment from the vehicle to the specified site. Whilst there is no entry into the manhole itself, confined space entry training would be desirable, although training will be provided if needed.  Samples will then be collected and taken for laboratory analysis.

Samples are currently collected 4 times per week – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and the hours are typically 5 hours per day – 7am to 12 noon – 20 hours per week.  Pay is £9.50 per hour on weekdays and £14.25 on Saturdays.

There may be the opportunity for additional hours on some other contracts but this is not guaranteed.

To be successful in this job you need to enjoy working outdoors, be positive, friendly and flexible and be happy to travel on a daily basis in the company van.

You must also be willing to learn and have a safe approach to work. A full driving licence is essential.

It would be an added bonus (but not essential) if you have any of the following knowledge and/or training:

  • Experience of driving a van
  • Experience of the waste water industry
  • Training in confined space entry
  • Training in NRSWA

To apply for either of these roles please send your CV via the Apply Now button on this page.
